A place for my students to connect with the world!

On-line Guidelines

I have set up the following guidelines to ensure my students safety while on-line.

1. Be Proactive by being kind to others online.

2. Begin with the End in Mind by only using your first name, not giving out any personal information, including last name, birthday, address, phone number or school address.

3. Put First Things First by following school and house rules about the sites and time you are allowed on line.

4. Think Win-Win by playing games fairly and realizing I do not always have to be the winner of a game. I will be polite and use appropriate language when communicating on-line.

5. Seek First to Understand by making smart decisions about what to play and send online. I will ask a trusted adult if I have any questions to what is appropriate. I will remember not everything I see, hear or read on line is true.

6. Synergize by working collaboratively with others, taking turns and sharing the responsibilities.

7. Sharpen the Saw by taking a break from online activities to get plenty of sleep and to participate in physical activities.

Further guidelines specific to blogging are as follows:

Blogging Guidelines

Blogging is a very important tool for our class. It allows us to share what is happening inside of our classroom with others, to learn from others and to become good digital citizens.

1. Use only your first name on-line: never give out any other personal information.

2. Proof-read your posts and comments carefully.

3. Always write in full sentences and words – no “text talk” please! All comments or posts should be a minimum of 2 sentences.

4.  All blog posts and comments submitted have to be approved by the administrator of the site before they are included on the blog.
